M2.1
M2.1 Project Just another Innovation or Beyond?
“A guidance ethics process is used in the project to find options of action by designing a case to set the technology in context, followed by dialogue to understand the values, actors and effects.”
Design Challenge: There is an opportunity to integrate these two perspectives, the bioethical literature and the interaction with the public. An approach that presents the questions posed by bioethical literature attractively and engagingly can attract people who want to share their values. They can give more insight into their values related to the topic and their potentially deficient perception of this topic. Researchers and designers should consider these rich insights to integrate AWT into our society ethically.
Results: This project allowed visitors to engage with AWT in understandable and interesting ways. They could talk amongst themselves and share their opinions, values and worries about the different ethical topics presented. From the collected data, several conclusions could be drawn about the views of the visitors from the Demoday. These values give insight into how we might want to view this technology in our society, how we should assess when to use this technology, and how we should see the human being that is in this technologically created no man's land between birth and a state of independence.
